Godfriet Keller

Godfriet Keller earned his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of British Columbia in 1979. During his tenure at UBC, he trained and worked in the Pharmacy Department at Vancouver General Hospital.

Godfriet first got interested in Long Term Care while working in the hospital. “I saw it as the most compassionate and rewarding use of my abilities,” says Godfriet. He then went onto to gain invaluable business training from his mentor, Doug Fraser who owned and operated 5 successful Surrey Pharmacies.

He had a business dream and a medical ambition and together they spirited Godfriet on to open Community Care Pharmacy in 1989.

Godfriet Keller is a 20 year member of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists. For 7 years, he has actively participated on the Committee for Long Term Care of the BC College of Pharmacists. And both he and his staff frequently attend industry conferences, seminars and ongoing education programs.

In 2007, Godfriet won the BC Pharmacy Association’s Achievement Award for innovation in developing an Auto-Med program to service his care home clients and for his diligence in providing in-service education, trouble-shooting and individual explanations which have helped the care facilities he works with run more smoothly and efficiently.

Godfriet’s passion for pharmacy and business is matched only by his devotion to his family and love of fishing, soccer and gardening.

Jason Keller

Jason Keller came by his keen interest in pharmacy honestly working alongside his Dad at Community Care Pharmacy as a technician while attending to his academics.

That hands on training might explain why Jason was immediately accepted into the Pharmacy program at UBC right after graduating High School. 5 years later, in 2005 he received his Pharmacist’s license and took his rightful place next to his proud father. He has been helping run Community Care Pharmacy ever since.

What Jason shares with Godfriet is more than just a keen understanding of the Pharmacists medical responsibilities but also that compassion and sense of reward that each gain by working and caring for those residents of Long Term Care.

“All those years watching my Dad help people made me want to do the same,”says Jason.

I worked as a pharmacy technician at London Drugs while finishing my Bachelors of Science in Pharmacy at UBC. After graduation (2004) I continued working at London Drugs but this time as a pharmacist… not long after I decided to take my career in a more clinical direction. I began work at Community Care Pharmacy where the primary focus is on nursing home care. I get real satisfaction in being a problem solver and like to get to the root cause of any situation that may arise and solve it quickly. Many nurses and other staff have commented how much they appreciate this type of partnership approach.

In 1972 I graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of British Columbia. I have many years of experience as a community pharmacist; a part of which was as a Pharmacy Manager for Shoppers Drug Mart where I specialized in Long Term Care. I was instrumental in developing policies and procedures in nursing home practices and sat on the Long Term Care Committee at the college of pharmacists of B.C. where I spent four years as chairperson. At the community level I have been a guest speaker for many Celiac, Parkinson's and Diabetes support groups where I talked about proper medication use. I have been with Community Care Pharmacy since 2006.

I received both my Bachelors in pharmacy and my masters in quality management from Punjabi University in Pakistan. I worked as a pharmacy manager for four years prior to immigrating to Canada in 2004. Since moving here I've had the opportunity to increase my experience by working for some the largest pharmacy chains in Canada including London Drugs, Walmart , Shoppers Drug Mart and even as a BC Nurseline pharmacist. I finally decided to join Community Care Pharmacy in 2008; I felt that this move would give me better opportunities to use my skills and knowledge in a more clinical setting while working with long-term care and pychiatric homes. I am a board certified Psychiatric pharmacist (BCPP) from the college of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacists (2010). I can council and service various ethnic groups as I'm fluent in many languages such as: Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu and English, I also have a basic understanding of written and spoken Arabic.

I studied pharmaceutical sciences in my homeland of Romania and in 2002, shortly after graduation, I immigrated to Canada and became a licensed pharmacist here. One of my first jobs was with Community Care Pharmacy, and although I have worked with other pharmacies over the last 20 years I decided to return to work with Community Care Pharmacy because I really missed the clinical side of my career. Working with seniors, whether it be long term care or assisted living, allows me more opportunity to practice clinical pharmacy. Knowing I can make a difference in lives of our facilities' residents is very rewarding. I am fluent in both English and Romanian.

Lorrie

In 1981 I received my Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Sciences Degree from UBC. The following eighteen years I spent in practice in community based pharmacy, first in a clinic setting and then a large chain drugstore. For the last fourteen years, I have been a practicing Long Term Care Pharmacist, supplying pharmacy services to various types of residential facilities. I find working with the residents and other health-care professionals in the facility setting very fulfilling, both professionally and personally.
